Let’s Get Personal

*Sigh.*
So, my (somewhat) desperate plea for help with my writer’s block, via my last blog post, didn’t work out quite the way I envisioned: I got one response.
Three cheers for Kim from Perfectly Cursed Life – wonderful, fantastic, comment-loving Kim! As promised, an imaginary, completely made-up parade will be held in your honor, starting whenever you decide to “go to there” in your head.
Kim wanted to know more about my personal life, more about what is going on with me. I thought about this and then I thought about it some more and here’s what I’ve come up with:
(crickets)
Honestly? Sadly and pathetically? My first thought was “what personal life?”
Of course, that’s not entirely true. I have a life. I just don’t happen to think it’s particularly exciting. That’s kind of why I named my blog “Ordinary Mer.” I know that there are people who might disagree (namely, my parents, who were probably already predisposed to think highly of me, considering they’re responsible for my existence), but most of the time, I don’t think I’m anything special. I think I have a reasonable amount of self-esteem and I do have my quirks and unique personality traits, but I don’t think of myself as anything or anyone extraordinary.
(Which sort of proves my point about how great the Internet is – anyone, regardless of what they have to offer, can find a place where they can shout from the tops of their lungs about whatever they want. Naturally, this also means putting up with a lot of people I think are pretty stupid.)
Still, Kim did take the time to respond to my post, so I feel that I should at least try to come up with something personal-related to write about. Therefore, I hereby promise to rack my increasingly overfilled brain for some decent ideas and twists on the “this is what my life/day/week/month is like” kinds of posts.
That post, however, will have to wait until next time, as I have cleverly – and perhaps a bit manipulatively – already written today’s post. (See what I did with my spacing there? That’s a nifty trick I learned in college when I had required page numbers to hit for certain assignments.) I’ll do my best to make sure I’m not always as mind-numbingly dull as I have been lately, so look forward to learning more about Mer herself, ordinary or otherwise.
